Our primary intent: efficient use of resources
SDG 12, responsible consumption and production, is Rhino’s primary intent. Industry 4.0 and AI are the tools; industry sustainability is the core. Rhino has changed with its customers: from total foundry design to industrial automation (Industry 3.0), to Industry 4.0 and cyber-physical systems, and now AI tools for resource efficiency. Each step serves one aim, to lift the efficiency and quality of the customer's plant and keep it at par with global standards.
Total foundry design and integration
Project design and integration for the whole foundry, with a specialism in green sand process technology: sand control and mixing, high pressure moulding and complete sand plants.
Industry 3.0: industrial automation
On the foundry floor: automatic controls and online sand control that keep quality steady from batch to batch.
Industry 4.0: cyber-physical systems
Machines, sensors, data and software linked together: data acquisition, dashboards and cloud monitoring, so a foundry sees and improves its own process in real time.
AI tools for resource efficiency
Rhino has begun integrating AI tools into its machines and services, in the same spirit: practical help that lifts a customer's efficiency and quality.
Human agency, from 2014. Alongside the machines, Rhino has worked on the development of human agency: Swiss vocational education, skills and training, from internships to vocational institutes.
The same intent, applied to waste: circular economy technologies turn the foundry's own waste into value: sand reclamation since 2014 and Silica Plastic Block since 2021.

Green sand process systems, High Pressure Moulding and sand management, were recognised for energy efficiency by UNIDO-led GCIP in 2015 and 2016 and by IIF in 2016.

Sand reclamation for the various foundry processes brings used sand back into the loop. Silica Plastic Block turns foundry waste and waste plastic into construction products, so waste recovery is part of how a foundry runs, not an afterthought.
